Through physical exercise, mental health and community service, the challenge celebrates America’s 250th birthday in July.
The countdown to America’s 250th birthday on July 4 is underway and The American Legion is celebrating with its USA 250 Challenge. The challenge encourages indviduals, posts and departments to engage in one or all three of the challenge categories – fitness, mental health and community service – by logging 250 miles or hours.
With The American Legion’s birthday and Buddy Check week in March, this is an opportunity for posts to participate in the USA 250 Challenge by calling 250 veterans to check on their well being and needs. Posts also can host a veteran or Legion Family yoga event for physical fitness, or log 250 hours of community service by cleaning veteran headstones before Memorial Day.
If your American Legion post is hosting a USA 250 Challenge event around Buddy Checks, Be the One, community service, or other events that connect the challenge with Legion priorties, we want to hear from you. Please email dispatch@legion.org.
To participate in the American Legion USA 250 Challenge, register here. Your $30 registration fee will support The American Legion Veterans & Children Foundation that benefits disabled veterans and military families in need.
Posts, units and squadrons can create a USA 250 Challenge group. To get started, each Legion Family member registers individually. The first member to register will need to designate a team name and needs to let others know the name before they register so they can join it during the registration process.
