Web site intended to strengthen the connection between college mental-health professionals and combat veterans studying on their campuses.
College is challenging enough for the average student, but for academic-minded servicemembers returning home from overseas deployments, the transition can be especially difficult.
To assist student veterans, VA maintains a Web site, www.mentalhealth.va.gov/college, intended to strengthen the connection between college mental-health professionals and combat veterans studying on their campuses. Launched in May, the site educates college counselors on how to counsel student veterans dealing with mental-health issues and concerns. The site includes online modules centering on suicide prevention, post-traumatic stress disorder and alcohol abuse.
VA’s site also serves as a resource for veteran students wanting to learn more about challenges they may face in adjusting to life after the military.
