Legion officials meet with Arlington National Cemetery reps to discuss past problems, future solutions for nation's most revered veterans cemetery.

Ian de Planque, deputy director of The American Legion Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation Division, and National Legislative Director Tim Tetz recently met with Arlington National Cemetery Executive Director Kathryn Condon and Legislative Liaison U.S. Army Lt. Col. Jenny W. Davis to discuss the efforts of the cemetery to deal with ongoing operations in the wake of the extensive list of problems discovered over the last year in the operation of that cemetery.

In the productive meeting, Condon was open and forthcoming about past errors and moving forward to ensure that Arlington returns to status as the gold standard of U.S. veterans cemeteries. Furthermore both parties forged a working relationship to continue open and transparent communications about this issue, and laid the groundwork for the Arlington officials to brief American Legion membership at the Washington Conference next March.
