Free assistance delivers VA benefits for thousands during the month, exceeding previous year’s performance.
The American Legion’s accredited service officers and appeals representatives secured more than $2 billion in total benefits, free of charge, for veterans in August 2025 alone. The total for the month came to $2,011,026,413, following a July tally that hit just over $1.9 billion.
The total for August also put the amount in total benefits obtained for veterans by American Legion service officers and appeals reps ahead of the final 2024 tally of $21,000,396,471. The amount in American Legion-assisted benefits for the current fiscal year stood at $21,263,640,394 through August, which ends Sept. 30.
The American Legion’s network of more than 3,000 trained and accredited service officers and appeals representatives works diligently every day to ensure veterans and other beneficiaries receive the VA benefits they earned and deserve. Their continuous training is supported by donations to The American Legion’s Veterans & Children Foundation.
