Public meeting will coincide with System Worth Saving visit to Phoenix VA Health Care System.
The American Legion is hosting a System Worth Saving visit this month in Phoenix, where issues with veterans health care erupted in 2014.
“Three years ago, the nation was outraged with the delays in wait times at Phoenix VA and issues elsewhere,” American Legion Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation Commission Chairman Ralph Bozella said. “In that time, The American Legion has worked hand-in-hand with VA on improving the efficiency and quality of care at facilities from Maine to California. Our monthly System Worth Saving visits have proven to be successful as we listen to veterans’ experiences at their VA medical centers, and then help VA work toward improving patient care.”
The American Legion will host a System Worth Saving town hall at 7 p.m. Monday, March 20, at American Legion Post 1, 364 N. 7th Ave., Phoenix, Arizona. “All Phoenix-area veterans, their family members and VA personnel are invited to attend and participate in the town hall meeting so that veterans’ health care issues can be handled in a timely and collaborative manner,” Bozella said.
The System Worth Saving event in Phoenix is one of about a dozen that the Legion will conduct around the United States this year. The Legion hosts these events to hear feedback from veterans about the quality of health care they receive at their local VA facility.
Representatives from The American Legion Department of Arizona, The American Legion National Headquarters office in Washington, D.C., and representatives from VA and members of the Arizona congressional delegation will be in attendance.
