NASCAR championship weekend in Miami the site for final American Legion-Abbvie campaign stop, where 58 veterans were tested for hepatitis C antibody.
The final weekend of the NASCAR season served as the backdrop for the final stop in The American Legion’s and Abbvie’s TAKE ON HEP C tour. The nationwide campaign to provide free hepatitis C antibody testing for veterans wrapped up Nov. 15-17 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, where Joey Logano took the checkered flag on Nov. 17 to win his first NASCAR Cup Series championship.
Over the course of the three days, the TAKE ON HEP C tour bus tested and provided same-day results to 58 veterans. The tour stop also allowed The American Legion and AbbVie – a global biopharmaceutical company – to provide attendees with educational resources about the disease and how to understand their risk factors.
Two veterans joined The American Legion through the final tour stop, while the Air Force Silent Drill Team performed next to the tour bus and stopped by for a picture.
