The exams are not tied to care, treatment or benefits, but will help veterans and VA identify long-term health issues.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is encouraging veterans who may have been exposed to environmental hazards during their service to register for an environmental health registry evaluation. The evaluation is free, voluntary and is beneficial to both the veteran and VA.

These evaluations are not part of the disability claim and compensation process, nor do they confirm exposure to environmental hazards. However, they can help alert a veteran to a potential long-term health problem associated with exposure to certain environmental hazards such as Agent Orange, burn pits and ionizing radiation.

Information collected during these evaluations helps VA better understand the long-term effects of specific exposures and, in turn, enables them to better understand the needs of veterans.

The six registries developed by VA enable them to track and monitor the health of specific groups of veterans broken down by service period. To help determine your eligibility, click here.
