Arizona post hosts summit on mental health

Experts will address veterans health and Afghanistan during a special event, which will be broadcast live on Facebook.

American Legion Post 65 outside of Phoenix is hosting a special event dedicated to veterans and mental health coinciding with the week of Veterans Day.

Speakers will address topics related to mental health and Afghanistan during the one-hour event.

Among the scheduled speakers are retired Air Force Col. Wanda A. Wright, director of Arizona Department of Veterans Services; Dr. Cara Christ, chief medical officer with Blue Cross Blue Shield; and Thomas Winkel, a Marine Corps and Army National Guard veteran who is now director of Arizona Coalition for Military Families. American Legion Department Commander Ben Headen is also expected to participate.

The program begins at 9 a.m. Phoenix time on Tuesday, Nov. 9. Doors open at 8:30 at Post 65, which is located at 16413 N. 91st Street in Scottsdale.

For those unable to attend in person, it will be livestreamed on the Herozona Facebook page.
