Share your mental wellness success story

Your path to overcoming mental health challenges can serve as an inspiration to others facing the same struggle.

Everyday life can take its toll on a person’s mental wellness. But for some veterans, it’s a harder struggle.

Transitioning from military to civilian life can take its toll on a veteran’s mental health. So, too, can their experiences in the military, whether through the long-term effects of serving in a combat zone, being a victim of military sexual trauma or dealing with some other difficult situation while in service.

But for every veteran facing mental health challenges, there’s a success story of one overcoming those challenges and returning that veteran’s mental wellness to a safe and secure place. Their stories can serve as an inspiration to others, which is why we want to share those stories.

If you’re a veteran who struggled with mental wellness at some point after your military service but found a way to cope with and perhaps overcome those challenges, please let us know. We want to highlight your success stories through our media channels to provide hope for others that may be experiencing similar struggles.

Please email sbrooks@legion.org with both your story and with a photo of you – while you were still in uniform, wearing your Legion cap or just a casual picture. As we receive your stories, we’ll begin to share them on legion.org and elsewhere.

Please help us make your story an inspiration to others.
