ESCANABA, MI — “I Choose to Not Love You,” a powerful new fiction novel written by M.L. Zambrana, is slated to be released on February 1, 2017.
“I Choose to Not Love You” focuses on actor Robert DiPaulonito, also known as "Bobby Driver," as he nears the end of his acting career and prepares for retirement. A survivor of substance abuse, alcohol addiction, the Hollywood studio system, a suicide attempt and three marriages, he is looking forward to retiring from the world of acting.
However, his troubled life is intertwined with the past and present of the entertainment industry, and he must confront the issues that plague him, as well as dealing with the dark truths that also surround his friends and family.
Bobby returns to Southern California after the death of his brother Paul from dementia, but also to promote a new blockbuster movie in which he has a pivotal role.
While cleaning out Paul’s office in Encino, Bobby uncovers a jewelry box given to him from a convicted sex offender named Jasper Hugo. The jewelry is an unexpected reminder of an incident from 1952, which he almost fell victim to the pedophile during his teenage years.
Bobby’s nephew, Andrew and Bobby’s friend Richard Orrenk work to help him close out his affairs in Los Angeles, but as the days go by, Bobby uncovers more disturbing connections.
Bobby learns that after Hugo’s conviction in court, the operation continued and has evolved over the past sixty years into a major underground child trafficking industry of international pedophilia, abuse, murder… and worse.
