On Feb. 19, 2022, East Shore American Legion Post 196 held their 2nd annual Polar Plunge fundraiser. When you visit this post, you immediately notice the reason most events take place during the spring and summer months. Located directly on the beach at 25 Merwin Avenue in Milford, Conn., Post 196 includes beachfront views, along with upper and lower decks to enjoy the beautiful view. Why not have an event in February where everyone runs into the ocean to raise funds for a great veterans organization such as the Gary Sinise Foundation? That’s exactly what we did.

Why not have an event in February where everyone runs into the ocean to raise funds for a great veterans organization such as the Gary Sinise Foundation? That’s exactly what we did. Approximately 20 plungers and 150 spectators joined together that day for some good old-fashioned fun. his post of about 500 members regularly conducts fundraising events and veteran benefit events throughout the year. On this day, the community, plungers and membership families all contributed funds amounting to $11,576 which was donated to the Gary Sinise Foundation (GSF).
