It was so very sad that we lost Sen. John McCain due to brain cancer. He was in Vietnam as a POW and was shot down as a Navy pilot, and was kept there for over five years and was tortured. He served for five decades in the U.S. Senate. He was considered to be a Republican maverick. But in my book he did what had to be done for the greater good of the American people. I had written him a letter back in 2008 when he was running for president . He had written back and answered most of my questions. He also told me to not hesitate to contact again.

He also sent me a picture of himself that was autographed with the words, "Best wishes." I have cherished his words these many years. As a fellow Vietnam-era Navy veteran, I salute Sen. John McCain for a job well done. I also offer my heartfelt prayers to his family, friends and a nation that will miss him so much.
