Thin pieces of tin carved into a piece of art Words of honor stamped into the metal’s heart The names of men and women from all around And the ones that wear them are hero bound The dog tag is the only thing to bring you home. Around your foot or in between the toes, Wedge between the teeth or around the nose. Around your neck as you hold them close. A Thank you to the soldiers who service it brings With stories about the men and women this tag sings Blood type, religion, and a name the tag tells The dead and the living the tag will speak for itself.

Thin pieces of tin carved into a piece of art
Words of honor stamped into the metal’s heart
The names of men and women from all around
And the ones that wear them are hero bound

The dog tag is the only thing to bring you home.
Around your foot or in between the toes,
Wedge between the teeth or around the nose.
Around your neck as you hold them close.

A Thank you to the soldiers who service it brings
With stories about the men and women this tag sings
Blood type, religion, and a name the tag tells
The dead and the living the tag will speak for itself.
