A butterfly with Wings of Gold Flits back and forth as he travels bold Without a care he flutters on. He doesn't know if he'll see the dawn. A young lad wakes at break of day Eager to be up and on his way His sights are high, his dreams are set His fate to be, awaits him yet. A Mothers smiles at her bright young lad Who'll soon be a man, just like his Dad She has her dreams of what he'll be Of where he'll go, of what he'll see. A butterfly with Wings of Gold
Flits back and forth as he travels bold
Without a care he flutters on.
He doesn't know if he'll see the dawn.

A young lad wakes at break of day
Eager to be up and on his way
His sights are high, his dreams are set
His fate to be, awaits him yet.

A Mothers smiles at her bright young lad
Who'll soon be a man, just like his Dad
She has her dreams of what he'll be
Of where he'll go, of what he'll see.

An explosion rocks a jungle trail
Delivering death by jungle mail
A soldier's hand is getting cold
A butterfly lands, with Wings of Gold.

They have traveled far from family and home,
crossed oceans deep, thru jungles roamed
These brave young men, were warriors bold
Their deeds of glory have yet to be told.

Some fought by land and others by sea
Some thru the air, all with bravery
They fight this war on foreign soil
For Human Rights and Foreign Oil.

They question not their leaders choice
They act as a unit, one mind-one voice
They are our country's expendable crop
They charge into battle, without second thought.

After the battle, after the fight
The battlefield's not a pretty sight.
But peace will return, like days of Old
And Butterflies will flit on Wings of Gold.
