American Legion testifying on Capitol Hill April 30, May 1

The American Legion is set to testify the week of April 29 in two hearings before subcommittees of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.

American Legion Legislative Senior Associate Larry Lohmann will testify Tuesday, April 30, at 2 p.m. before the Economic Opportunity Subcommittee on the president’s budget for fiscal year 2020 regarding requests related to veterans’ readjustment benefits.

And Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation Division Director Chanin Nuntavong will testify Wednesday, May 1, at 2 p.m. before the Disability and Memorial Affairs Subcommittee. Topics of testimony will include a draft update of H.R. 299, the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act of 2019; the Veterans’ Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2019; the Honoring Veterans’ Families Act; and a draft bill to permit the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to establish a grant program to conduct cemetery research and produce educational materials for the Veterans Legacy Program.
