Since the summer of 2012, The American Legion’s Twitter audience has grown from 10,000 to nearly 92,000. We want your help reaching 100,000 by the time the 2018 National Convention gets underway. Twitter users are asked to simply go to @AmericanLegion and click “follow.”
Following the Legion on Twitter means you get breaking news about all things Legion, including statements from the national commander, links to stories appearing on www.legion.org and calls to action on the legislative front.
Our Twitter feed regularly is updated with links to other media sources, including Military Times, Stars & Stripes and Military.com. The Legion also is followed on Twitter by all three of those media organizations and various TV media personalities, as well as by the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and U.S. National Guard; the Departments of Veterans Affairs, Labor and Defense; hundreds of members of Congress; and other veterans service organizations.
As a result of the multiple influencers who follow The American Legion, #ALConv2017 trended during President Trump’s address to the 2017 National Convention – meaning it was one of the most popular hashtags on all of Twitter during and for a few hours after Trump’s speech.
If you’re not using Twitter, signing up is easy. Simply pick a user name and password, and provide some simple information, to create your profile. To follow The American Legion, go to @AmericanLegion and click “follow.”
