Legion-connected Teens for Veterans offers online concert

Teens for Veterans – a group associated with Rayson Miller American Legion Post 899 in Pittsford, N.Y. – has recorded a virtual concert and posted it on YouTube dedicated to the men and women who have served in uniform. “We Are Thinking of You” features teen musicians performing while socially distancing.

“These tough times are a reminder to reflect back on the sacrifices you have made to improve our country,” the concert’s YouTube description says. “We are wishing you all to remain safe, to be happy and to stay healthy.”

American Legion National Headquarters learned of the group and the virtual concert through a letter from Pittsford Mendon High School junior Isabella He, founder of Teens for Veterans. The group has grown since 2017 and has volunteered at the post, which recently celebrated its 100th anniversary. Teens for Veterans has assisted at holiday ceremonies, fundraisers and has performed for veterans at the Canandaigua VA Medical Center, she explained in the letter.

After years of interacting with these veterans, my generation and community have developed a greater appreciation for those who have served our country,” she wrote. “In return, our veterans have felt a stronger bond forming between themselves and the community.”

The Teens for Veterans program is explained on the Post 899 website.
