Training for incoming district commanders to be held in Indy

Every year, more than 750 Legionnaires across the nation are elected to serve as a district commander. Among the many duties of a district commander, they are the liaisons between posts and departments, responsible for relaying information through both levels. This ongoing communication ensures that The American Legion operates as a national entity.

The American Legion's Membership Division is hosting a training course for 2019-2020 incoming district commanders during the 101st National Convention in Indianapolis.

The Incoming District Commanders Training is Monday, Aug. 26, at 9 a.m. at the JW Marriott in the Grand Ballroom, Sections 8 and 9, Third Floor. The JW is located at 10 South West Street, Indianapolis.

Attendees will hear from national commander leading candidate Bill Oxford of North Carolina, as well as discuss the following topics:

- Post analysis

- District revitalization

- MyLegion.org overview

- Buddy Check

- Membership engagement plan at the post and district level
