June Impact Report: White House responds to Legion call for action

The American Legion’s call for the White House to work swiftly and urgently to evacuate some 18,000 Afghan translators, their families and others who assisted coalition forces in the war there led to an announcement just a week later that the allies would be moved to safe countries until their visa applications are completed.

Meanwhile, The American Legion shared its positions on the value of Buddy Checks to assist veterans who may be having emotional or psychological problems after discharge.

The American Legion National Headquarters handled more than 100 Flag Code inquiries, and a post in Minnesota respectfully retired more than 15,000 in a lakeside ceremony on June 12.
