National campaign, local initiatives take on the “toughest challenge veterans are facing.”

The American Legion addressed what National Commander Vincent “Jim” Troiola calls the “toughest challenge facing veterans” in September during National Suicide Prevention Month. At the national, state and local levels, members across the country went to work to “Be the One” who keeps a friend from taking his or her own life.

Meanwhile, the Legion’s team of claims specialists prepared, free of charge, hundreds of hearings for veterans disputing their VA claims decisions and won appeals for 307 veterans.

And American Legion Baseball alum Albert Pujols joined an elite club in September after hitting his 700th Major League home run.
