January impact: OCW continues to deliver comfort

Nearly 15 years into its existence, The American Legion’s Operation Comfort Warriors program continues to deliver items and opportunities for members of the U.S. Armed Forces and veterans who are recovering from service-connected wounds and illnesses.

The program, which had 8,268 Legion participants last year according to the most recent Consolidated Post Report, made a big contribution in the Department of Maine in the first month of 2023 after a year of more than $360,000 in grants disbursed in 2022.

Meanwhile, The American Legion’s Be the One initiative made strides in Wisconsin, the national Instagram platform and Tango Alpha Lima podcasts enjoyed substantial audience growth, and more than $85,000 in national youth scholarships were awarded to 27 different recipients.
