"In Grateful Memory of the High Courage and Sacrifice of the Men and Women who Served with the Armed Forces in WWII." This plaque was originally displayed at the Pepperell Mill in Opelika, Ala. The mill was in operation from 1925-2006, with a fire destroying all existing buildings in 2013. After the fire, the decision was made to relocate the memorial to the Museum of East Alabama, which is located on a street with heavy foot traffic. This way, the memorial has a lasting legacy and a place where decedents can come to remember their loved ones.
