Veterans Park Marco Island Florida

American Legion Post 404 and the Veterans’ Memorial Fundraising Committee was established in January 2011. The Committee was responsible for fundraising to match the City's $60,000 contribution towards the $500,000 projected construction cost for a new Veterans’ Memorial. The City also spent $40,000 to design the memorial and provide contract bid specifications. The Memorial was dedicated on 11/11/11. The Committee and Post raised over $500,000 for this effort and constructed the circular memorial, planter area and memorial fountain. See attached photos. Ceremonies are conducted by a combined Marco Island military/first responders force, including: Post 404 American Legion, Post 6370 VFW, Marco Island Civil Air Patrol, and Marco Island Coast Guard Auxiliary # 95 each year on the 4th of July and Veterans Day
