This Veterans Park was built during the summer of 2005 by members of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and other veterans in the community. We collected donations of money, material, and voluntary labor to build the park and it was dedicated on November 11, 2005. If a business or individual made a donation for a special item in the Veterans Park, when it was installed there was a plaque indicating the donor. All flag poles, pedestals, and information center were donor sponsored. There was a maintenance fund setup to maintain the Veterans Park, Flag replacement, and installation of new veterans tiles on the pedestals when we put the Veterans Park together. We continue to maintain that fund so the Veterans Park is fluent. There are services conducted every Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and for Wreathes Across America in December, for everyone to attend. There are currently 5 pedestals in the park, four of which have the names of veterans from past wars and conflicts involving the United state of America, this also including the revolutionary or civil war. This is a perpetual veterans park therefore future veterans can be added to the pedestals with their name, date of service, and branch of service. Veterans do not have to be from the local area to be added to the pedestals in the park. There are also flags for each branch of the services, merchant marines, POW/MIA, and the United State Flag.
