The U.S.S. Indianapolis Memorial is dedicated to the officers and men of the United States Heavy Cruiser torpedoed and sunk during the closing days of World War II in the Pacific. The memorial is an outdoor site and is available to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week. An image of the U.S.S. Indianapolis is engraved on the north side of the monument. Engraved on the south face of the monument are the names of the ship's company and one passenger who made up her final crew. Small crosses adjacent some names indicate those who perished in the sinking of the vessel.
