The monument was built in 1977 by the Batesville Rotary Club and has over 800 engraved bricks installed. A memorial pavilion has been built with a gazebo for small musical concerts, and fountain and a veteran’s memorial. The fountain is maintained by the Batesville Rotary Club. Across the railroad track lies the historic town square. The Square is the site of the May spring fest sponsored by Panola Partnership which includes music, games, rides and food for the whole family.
