At one point in time a concrete star was poured in the ground and a tree planted in its center in a Memorial Park. The memorial park also used to contain two cannon from the Spanish American War. However, these cannon were removed and donated to a metal scrap drive during World War II. Over the years, the tree in the center of the star died and the area around the park was developed as a street was put through. The concrete star remained but fell into disrepair. In the 2010's as housing was being built near the former park an attempt was made to relocate the original star, but its condition made that impossible. So exact measurements were taken of the original star and a new star was poured in what has become a revitalized Memorial Park, which now contains a replica Civil War cannon in the center of the star along with a flagpole and a plaque dedicating this memorial to the "Home Front" honoring those who stay behind to support those who serve.
