Public support was so great that special Vietnam War and Public Safety Exhibits were added. Date of the memorial’s installation and who originally installed it: The Memorial was first conceptualized in 2006 by Ken Ackley. He then designed it and got the fundraising ball rolling with $30,000.00 of his own money. Today, at 83 years young, he continues to maintain and manage the Memorial.
