This memorial was erected by Bud Lilly, a WWII veteran and Manhattan, Montana native son. Bud Lilly was of trout fishing fame and a long time friend of the Oiye's and wanted to honor the Japanese Americans who fought in World War II. The Oiye's is the name of a Japanese family who lived in Logan, Montana since before the second world war. George Oiye is the name of the person this memorial is representing.
