A large engraved stone slab is framed by a roughly finished natural stone border. The slab bears the Haywood County casualties from the Vietnam War. In front of it is a cast metal pair of empty combat boots, often filled with flowers and flags. The slab and shoes rest on top of a sturdy stone base, also roughly finished.
