This memorial was initiated in 1998 when Post 339 member Warren Lockwood saw a similar veterans memorial and recommended to Post 339 they establish a memorial in Roland. Any veteran who served honorably in the United States military is eligible to be included. A star marks the names of veterans who were killed in action. There are 240 names on each of the sixteen stones. Names are printed on both sides of the stones. The stones are six feet tall and four feet wide. Due to limited space in the park, the memorial is considered complete.
