Football field dedicated to the memory of Jeannette, Pennsylvania native Major William Shomo, US Army Air Corps. On 1/11/1945 over Luzon in the Phillipines flying a P-51 Mustang fighter plane, Shomo shot down seven Japanese planes. He was awarded the Medal of Honor. Note: Shomo's plane had the name " Flying Undertaker" painted on it. Prior to joining the military, he was a licensed mortician.
