Anchor from the USS Monongahela, a ship named for Monongahela, Pennsylvania. The Monongahela was a barkentine sail-rigged steam powered Sloop-of-War built in 1863 serving in the US Navy beginning with Admiral David Farragut’s Squadron at the Battle of Mobile Bay in Alabama. Later service included being a training ship for the United States Naval Academy. Active until being destroyed by a fire in 1908. Dedicated to the men & women from the Monongahela area who served their country.
