The all-volunteer Hanover Veterans Memorial Committee was established by the Board of Supervisors in February 2005 in response to numerous requests from citizens. The Committee’s mission was to solicit community input and erect a veterans memorial without utilizing taxpayer dollars. The primary objective was to recognize Hanover residents who gave the ultimate sacrifice in defense of their Country, as well as those uniformed servicemen and women who have defended our Country’s freedom. On Memorial Day, May 28, 2007 the Hanover Veterans Memorial was dedicated in front of a crowd of over 1,000 spectators.
