How many national conventions has the Sons of The American Legion held?

The Sons will be holding their 42nd National Convention at the same time and at the same convention center in Houston as The American Legion.

Although the Sons organization was created in 1932, its first national leader was not elected until the late 1960s. In 1971, in and around the Legion’s national convention (also in Houston), about 150 Sons attended a caucus and workshop and elected John Smolinsky of Massachusetts as "national chairman." In addition to the Legion and the Sons conventions, the American Legion Auxiliary will be holding its 93rd National Convention at the same time, also in Houston.
