2010 Boys Nation kicks off July 23

The 65th American Legion Boys Nation will take place July 23-30 in Washington, D.C., where 98 delegates - who have been selected by their department's Boys State program - will receive an understanding of the nation's political process. Throughout the eight-day program, the delegates will reside at Marymount University in Arlington, Va., and participate in daily educational activities from dawn until dusk.

Between senate sessions, party conventions, and elections for a president and vice president, the delegates will visit prominent memorials and historical sites around Washington such as the White House, the Arlington National Cemetery, the Supreme Court and the National Mall. The boys will also partake in a dinner at the Maryland Greenbelt Legion Post 136 with American Legion National Commander Clarence Hill as the keynote speaker.
