Impactful gifts: 1919 Giving Society coming to convention

Members of The American Legion are already “veterans strengthening America,” upholding the sacred commitment to veterans, military service, young people, good citizenship and patriotic values.

But did you know that making an exceptionally impactful gift to an American Legion Charities 501(c)3 charity may also qualify you to be inducted into the 1919 Giving Society?

Attendees of the 104th American Legion National Convention Aug. 25-31 in Charlotte, N.C., are invited to stop by the 1919 Giving Society booth in the Exhibit Hall at the Charlotte Convention Center. There, you can chat with a member of the Office of Charitable Giving team and learn more about how you or your organization can make life-changing, immediate differences in the lives of veterans seeking health-care and benefits assistance, as well as for children of veterans and military personnel whose home stability is in peril.

All 1919 Giving Society investments with American Legion charities are tax-deductible, and members are offered specific forms of recognition based on their level of commitment.

Impactful Planning: A Legacy That Strengthens America

Has your financial future and legacy planning been on your mind, but don’t know where to start? Take advantage of the Continuing Education Workshop on Financial Planning at the national convention with Director of Charitable Giving Doug Stafford. Several seminars will be offered throughout the day on Monday, Aug. 28, in Rooms 202/203/205, Sections A-C of the convention center, beginning at 8 a.m. Topics will include wills, estate planning, capital gains tax savings, stocks, real property and other investment options. If you are unable to make it to one of the seminars, stop by the 1919 Giving Society booth to fill out a contact card to receive more information on planned giving options. If you are not attending the convention, visit our website, or contact us to request a brochure by mail via (317) 630-1225 or plannedgiving@legion.org.

Throughout the convention, the 1919 Society Donor Room/Lounge, in Room 105, Concourse Level of the convention center, will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Attendees can meet with Office of Charitable Giving team members with questions, become acquainted and receive additional information.
