2011 Legacy Run goal: $450,000

In five years, the Legacy Run has raised more than $2 million for The American Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund. The generous giving toward the scholarship that provides the financial means to attend college for children of servicemembers killed on active duty on or after Sept. 11, 2001, is expected to continue this August.

A goal of $450,000 has been established for the 2011 Legacy Run, which will start at Kenneth N. Dowden Wayne Post 64 in Indianapolis on Aug. 21, travel 1,225 miles and finish up on Aug. 25 at Richfield Post 435 in Minneapolis, the site of the 2011 National Convention. Along the way, the contingent of Riders will make stops in Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin, along with stops in Minnesota before arriving in Minneapolis.

Registration remains ongoing. To register for the 2011 run, click here.
