American Legion Legacy Scholarship deadline nearing for eligible applicants

The deadline is a month away for eligible students to apply for The American Legion’s Legacy Scholarship.

The scholarship was created for children of servicemembers who have died on active duty since Sept. 11, 2001. Last year, the eligibility criteria was expanded to include children of post 9/11 veterans who have a combined VA disability rating of 50 percent or greater. The needs-based scholarship provides up to $20,000 to help college students afford the cost of higher education. Students may reapply for the scholarship for up to six years.

The deadline for all applicants to complete the application process is April 20, 2017. Applicants will learn of their scholarship status about a month after the deadline.
