Scouts nationwide eager to support troops

Boy Scouts of America has announced a nationwide initiative encouraging all Scouts to support U.S. military men and women by doing a “good turn daily” in sending letters and care packages to troops stationed overseas. The announcement came during U.S. Postal Service event unveiling the 2010 “Celebrate Scouting” stamp design.

Created by Craig Frazier of Mill Valley, Calif., the stamp illustrates the spirit and outdoor adventure of Scouting by depicting a backpacking Scout and a large silhouette of a Scout surveying the landscape. The stamp, which will become available next summer, was championed by U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Texas, and supported by a bipartisan group of more than 300 members of Congress.
