16 air rifle shooters advance to finals

Since Aug. 5, the firing of .177 caliber air rifles could be heard at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., as 15 participants in both the precision and sporter category took aim during The American Legion's 20th annual Junior 3-Position Air Rifle National Championship. After two days of shooting in the prone, kneeling and standing position, the 30 participants' scores were calculated, and the top eight contestants in each category advanced to today's final shoot-off.
