Save the date! The American Legion will host an in-person and virtual Media Training Workshop, along with a special awards luncheon, at the 104th National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., on Monday, Aug. 28. A prize drawing will be held for in-person attednees of the workshop and luncheon.
All convention attendees are welcomed to attend the workshop and awards luncheon. Registration is required for the luncheon.
MEDIA TRAINING WORKSHOP
The Media Training Workshop will be held at the Charlotte Convention Center, Room 212, Sections A-B, Meeting Level, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern time with a two-hour break (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) for the awards luncheon. The live stream of the workshop will pause during the break and resume at 1 p.m. In-person registration for the Media Training Workshop is available here. For virtual participants, the workshop will be streamed live on the Legion's Facebook page at facebook.com/americanlegionhq.
During the training, panelists will discuss how to:
- Create Be the One bracelets to promote the Legion’s suicide prevention initiative
- Download and use the VA PTSD Coach app
- Start a podcast
- Create QR codes for recruiting new members or fundraising efforts
- Improve photography skills
- Design a newsletter and increase open rates
- Get print and web advertising in post, district or department newsletters
- Ask the right interview questions
On Aug. 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., The American Legion will recognize the 2023 American Legion Media Alliance (TALMA) contest winners with a special awards luncheon. During the luncheon, TALMA awards will be presented to contest winners in attendance and representatives from Charlotte and New Orleans, site of the 105th national convention, will speak.
The luncheon is free for the 2023 TALMA award recipients. For others and guests, the price is $20.
