VA meets on disability compensation

On May 18, Jacob Gadd, assistant director for Program Management, attended the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Advisory Committee on Disability Compensation. The Advisory Committee on Disability Compensation is charged with advising the Secretary of Veterans Affairs on the maintenance and periodic readjustment of the VA Schedule for Rating Disabilities. The Committee received an update on Compensation and Pension (C&P) activities by Bradley Mayes, director of C&P Service.

Mr. Mayes addressed several topics such as the New Agent Orange Presumptives (B-cell leukemia, Parkinson's disease) and this current fiscal year priority of revising the Musculoskeletal criteria for the VA rating schedule. Additionally, Mr. Mayes discussed the need for Veterans Benefits Administration evaluation of the 56 Rating Exam Worksheets and the new VA E-Benefits portal which will allow veterans to apply for benefits, download their DD Form 214 and receive VA online services.
