When I received this photo of my great-grandson, as a veteran of the Berlin crisis and a member of Post 0141 in Indiana, Pa., I was duly impressed and thought: WHAT A GREAT HOOD ORNAMENT - LUKE DAUBENSPECK FLYING THE COLORS !!
His parents Olivia and Daniel Daubenspeck, of Butler, Pa., shared the photo with me. I'm passing it along for the enjoyment of others.

About the author:

JOHN DEE (JD) VARNER, veteran of the U.S. Army in the early 1960's when the Soviet Union built the dividing wall in Berlin, was (at age 78) totally impressed to see my great-grandon, Luke Daubenspeck, (age 2) standing on the hood of his dad's vehicle, flying the U.S. Flag --commemorating the bi-centennial celebration of the writing of our National Anthem.
