All proceeds from the Department Challenge go to supporting the Veterans & Children Foundation.
This year, the Department Breakout Challenge runs the duration of 100 Miles for Hope, concluding on Sept. 5.
All proceeds from the Department Challenge, as well as registrations and donations, go directly to supporting disabled veterans and military families through The American Legion Veterans & Children Foundation (V&CF).
For the challenge, departments are divided up into categories by size. The department in each category that raises the most money will receive a plaque from the national commander.
There are two ways to support your department (or any team), in the third annual 100 Miles for Hope. For the Department Challenge, your fundraising totals will count toward your department’s overall total as long as you join their team. Those donations will also count toward the individual participant’s total, which will be used to tabulate the various incentives that are being offered.
Here is how to support your department:
1. Make a donation. To donate to your department, visit this page to find your department and then either click the link to go to your department donation page, or text your unique department code to 71777. After texting your department code, you will receive a link to donate to your department.
2. Fund raise for your department. Go to Mobile Cause to sign up and then choose “Become a fundraiser” then select a team. All of the departments have already been created. If you would like to create a new team, please email donorservices@legion.org. To join a team after initial set-up, log back into your Mobile Cause page or type in app.mobilecause.com/vf/100MFH/YourName and select edit at the bottom of the page, then click Join a Team.
