Resources available to help with Buddy Checks and share impact from the post to national level.
Four American Legion media tools to engage and inspire members:
Buddy Checks. The American Legion’s Buddy Check program is designed to give American Legion Family members the tools to make contact with veterans, engage in conversation, assess risks and direct veterans in need to the appropriate services. Resources are available at at legion.org/buddycheck to begin making Buddy Checks. This includes a toolkit that explains the program, provides steps to conducting a successful Buddy Check, gives sample scripts and more; a “While You Were Out” door hanger that is printer-friendly and can be customized as a leave-behind; and a fillable media advisory and press release.
Membership Impact Report. The American Legion’s monthly Membership Impact Report are published at the beginning of each month on the national website at legion.org to highlight the many ways The American Legion is making a difference in the lives of veterans, youth and communities nationwide. Posts, districts and departments are encouraged to print these reports to inform members of their dues at work and to help with recruiting. You also can feature the Membership Impact Report web link in your post newsletter, as well as copy and paste highlights from it. View Membership Impact Reports.
Post Impact Report. A part of membership engagement is showing members and potential members the value of membership, and where their dues are going. One way to do this is through a post impact report. Customize this tool to show new members how the post makes a difference in the lives of veterans, their families, children and the local community. You can easily take information from your Consolidated Post Report and drop it in. Download the Post Impact Report.
Annual Report. The 2024-2025 American Legion Annual Report is an illustrated snapshot of the organization’s programs and priorities that support veterans, their families and youth, and the impact over the past year. The report is now online and available to view in a flip-book format at legion.org/about/reports/annual-reports. The American Legion Family is encouraged to share the report as widely as possible. View and share the report.
