January 2026: Legion’s voice heard in DC

Grassroots Action Center sends more than 100,000 messages to Congress.

The American Legion, coming off a big year on Capitol Hill for the first session of the 119th Congress, did not break stride when the second session began in the first month of 2026.

Statements for the Record, a press conference on the need to modernize VA’s approach to traumatic brain injury and more kept the Legion’s policy and legislative teams on the move as the Washington Conference and National Commander’s Testimony draws near, Feb. 27-March 4.

The number of messages sent to Congress in 2025 through the Legion’s Grassroots Advocacy Center hit 102,873, a year that included no less than 369 bill reviews by The American Legion, as well.

Meanwhile, American Legion service officers and appeals reps assisted thousands of veterans January across the country, securing billions in disability benefits and retroactive compensation after appeals.
