December Impact: Advocacy, football, gift cards and holiday warmth

From a local cemetery in California to the Oval Office, The American Legion made strides in the final month of 2025.

The American Legion’s impact stretched from local communities, where wreaths were laid for fallen veterans and mittens were provided to children in need, to the Oval Office, where American Legion National Commander Dan K. Wiley joined President Trump for a long-awaited executive order on cannabis.

The second year of American Legion associate sponsorship of the Army-Navy Game presented by USAA put the organization’s brand in front of 71,000 spectators at M&T Stadium and a new Chevy in the driveway of a student veteran.

The American Legion Junior Shooting Sports program had a spike in registrations, and nearly $18,000 in Temporary Financial Assistance grants stabilized homes of qualified veterans/military personnel with children at home.
