The American Legion’s podcast this week welcomes Matt Disher, a Marine veteran who has built military recruiting programs for several companies.
What are some challenges for companies wanting to hire veterans?
What are some tips and tricks for those who will soon be transitioning out of the military? (Hint: Network, network, network.)
How do you translate military experience and way of life to a recruiter in the civilian world?
Marine veteran Matt Disher tackles those questions and more on this week’s episode of The American Legion Tango Alpha Lima podcast. Click here to listen to the episode or watch the YouTube version.
Disher leads Military Recruiting Programs at Cushman & Wakefield, a global commercial real estate services provider. His post-military career has focused on building and leading corporate military recruitment programs, in small and large businesses.
“Part of the reason why I got into this when I came out of the military, as a Marine, blowing things up and shooting guns did not get me hired anywhere,” he said.
Disher’s programs have earned company accolades such as Military Friendly Top 100 awards multiple times, as well as other government and private enterprise awards.
Also, it is not too late to support the Veterans & Children Foundation through a special podcast challenge this month.
ClearanceJobs, the website that named Tango Alpha Lima the second-best podcast for veterans and transitioning servicemembers, will donate $1 to the foundation for every subscriber it gets this month.
The Matt Disher episode is one of nearly 60 from Tango Alpha Lima available for download on iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher or for viewing on YouTube.
