Rainier Veterans Memorial Park

Rainier Veterans Memorial Park

A large pentagon shaped concrete slab with the five US service flags at each point, the US, WA State, and POW/MIA flags in the center, which are lighted at night and a marble and bronze plaque dedicating the park to all veterans. An eighty foot by four foot concrete wall along one side holds tile plaques with the names of veterans and the names of the eighteen Medal of Honor awardees actually born in Washington State, to include the only Navy Seabee to be awarded the Medal of Honor (Dong Xoai Vietnam). At the rear is a metal sculpture of a soldier kneeling at a field grave site. There is a bench in the memorial park facing the flags and the memorial wall where visitors may sit and contemplate the sacrifice and service by our veterans.
